About The Film
The first schedule of Border 2 is currently being filmed in Uttar Pradesh. Varun joined the team on January 16 in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh, where they shot in heavily restricted army cantonments. The film is a sequel to the 1997 war classic Border, which was based on the 1971 Battle of Longewala.
Directed by JP Dutta, the original Border starred Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and Akshaye Khanna. Now, Border 2 shifts focus to the 1999 Kargil War, where Pakistani forces infiltrated Indian territory.
The cast includes Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty alongside Varun. The film is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. Presented by T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s J.P. Films, the movie aims to bring a gripping tale of courage and sacrifice.
Border 2 is set to release on January 26, 2026. It would be interesting to see Varun in this high-octane role, especially after Baby John failed to make an impact. The film was a remake of Atlee’s Theri and received a highly negative response. With Border 2, Varun is looking for a strong comeback.
