Akshay Kumar‘s return to the beloved Welcome franchise has hit a snag. The third instalment, titled Welcome To The Jungle, was progressing smoothly until a recent heavy downpour in Mumbai caused significant damage to the film’s set.
Mumbai Rains Damage Welcome To The Jungle Sets
Filming had been in full swing, with a massive set constructed for the extensive shooting schedule planned for early August 2024. This schedule was set to feature a large ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, and was to include a major song sequence. However, the rain disrupted these plans, leading to partial destruction of the set.
Director Ahmed Khan has addressed the situation, confirming that filming will be paused until the set is fully repaired.
Ahmed told Pinkvilla, “It is unfortunate that a portion of the set got damaged due to the heavy rainfall in Mumbai. So as a creative call, I have decided to begin the shoot once the set is reconstructed.”
He reassured fans that the crew is working tirelessly to restore the set, with hopes to resume shooting soon.
The film’s 2023 announcement video showcased the cast in an a cappella performance, offering a preview of the comedic and musical elements fans can expect.
