Director Jeethu Joseph and actor Mohanlal, known for their successful movies like Drishyam and Drishyam 2, have once again teamed up for a new project. They have previously worked together in the Malayalam film 12th Man and have an upcoming film called Ram in the works. Although they had previously announced Drishyam 3, they have now decided to collaborate on a different exciting project.
On Thursday, the official confirmation came for the sixth collaboration between director Jeethu Joseph and actor Mohanlal. This upcoming film will also be the 33rd production of Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirwad Cinemas. While not revealing many details about the movie, the makers announced that filming will commence in August. According to reports, Mohanlal will complete the shooting schedule for his Malayalam-Telugu bilingual film Vrushabha first, which is directed by Nanada Kishore and features Shanaya Kapoor.
During a conversation with OTTPlay, Jeethu Joseph clarified that their upcoming film is distinct from Drishyam 3. He emphasized, “No, this is not Drishyam 3. I want to make it clear that this is an entirely separate project.” When questioned about the genre of the film, Jeethu Joseph responded, “It’s too early to disclose all those specifics. Currently, we are focusing on refining the script. We still need to conduct location scouting and finalize the remaining cast members. That’s also why we haven’t unveiled the movie’s title yet. All these details will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks.”
The highly anticipated film Drishyam 3 by Jeethu Joseph has generated significant buzz, with numerous reports circulating about its progress. However, in a recent interview, Joseph refuted these reports, stating, “The claims that a suitable script has been finalized for Drishyam 3 are unfounded. Currently, no decisions have been made regarding the project.”
I am actively considering the idea of Drishyam 3 and working towards making it a reality. However, I have not reached a stage where I can confidently begin writing the script for it. Therefore, no definitive choices have been made regarding the film’s production or the approach we will take. Consequently, there are no plans yet for shooting the film simultaneously with another project, specifically the Hindi version of Drishyam 3.

The shooting for Jeethu and Mohanlal’s film Ram is still pending completion, as it had begun before the pandemic. This film, planned to be released in two parts, has been filmed in both the UK and Tunisia. Additionally, Mohanlal is eagerly anticipated in the film L2: Empuraan. However, due to Prithviraj Sukumaran’s recovery from a ligament surgery, the shooting schedule for L2: Empuraan has been postponed. This change in schedule has opened up Mohanlal’s dates, allowing him to accommodate Jeethu Joseph’s films during that time.
