Anil Kapoor’s series The Night Manager has made waves by earning a nomination for Best Drama Series at the 2024 International Emmy Awards.
This recognition is particularly significant as it marks the first time an Indian adaptation of a British show has received such acclaim on a global stage. Kapoor expressed his excitement about the nomination, stating that the love he receives inspires him to take on even more characters.
Anil Kapor REVEALS Shailly Is His 140th Character
As per a Pinkvilla report, Anil Kapoor said in a heartfelt message, “Thank you to the International Emmys for your recognition of The Night Manager. I am lucky to have worked with a fantastic team, and we have endeavoured to do justice to the brilliantly created world of The Night Manager while still trying to infuse it with a new voice. Shailly is the 140th character I have played in my 45 years as an actor, and this kind of love and encouragement energises me to go for another 150! Jai ho!”
In The Night Manager, Kapoor plays a pivotal role alongside Aditya Roy Kapur, who portrays Shantanu Sengupta, a former Navy lieutenant turned night manager at a hotel in Dhaka. The cast also includes Sobhita Dhulipala as Kaveri Dixit, along with notable performances from Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl, and Saswata Chatterjee.
Anil Kapoor’s Work Front
Well, he kicked off the year with a bang, starring in the box-office hit Fighter, and is now preparing for the release of Subedaar. This film marks his first collaboration with director Suresh Triveni, although details about the plot remain under wraps.
Looking ahead, Kapoor is set to join YRF’s Spy Universe as the head of R&AW (Research and Analysis Wing). He was impressed by Aditya Chopra’s vision for the franchise and quickly accepted the role.
His involvement will kick off with a cameo in War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan, NTR Jr, and Kiara Advani. Following that, he will appear in Alpha, alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, before making his mark in Pathaan 2, which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
Talking about Emmys, The International Emmy Awards 2024 has a diverse pool of nominees this year, with 56 entries across 14 categories from 21 different countries. The winners will be announced on November 25 in New York City.
