Actor Dhanush has filed a lawsuit against actress Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, for allegedly using visuals from his production, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. The case, filed by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films Private Limited, is now being heard in the Madras High Court.
Dhanush Takes Legal Action Against Nayanthara
Dhanush claims that certain clips from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a 2015 Tamil film he produced, were included in the Netflix documentary without his permission. His production company has also sought the court’s approval to sue Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, the Mumbai-based entity responsible for Netflix’s investments in India.
According to reports, the High Court granted permission for Dhanush’s legal team to proceed, citing that a significant portion of the issue arose within its jurisdiction. The court has now issued a notice, asking Nayanthara to respond at the next hearing.
Nayanthara Recently ACCUSED Dhanush Of Refusing Permission To Use The Footage
The lawsuit follows allegations by Nayanthara that Dhanush refused to grant permission to use footage from the film, even after the clips were removed during editing.
Nayanthara reportedly stated that Dhanush later sent a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore for the unauthorised use of three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage.
The tension between the two stars was evident during a recent wedding in Chennai, where they reportedly avoided any interaction.
Why Is Naanum Rowdy Dhaan Special For Actress?
Naanum Rowdy Dhaan holds significant sentimental value for Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan. Directed by Vignesh, the film starred Nayanthara in the lead role and was produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films.
It was on this film’s set that Nayanthara and Vignesh’s relationship began, eventually leading to their marriage in 2022.
