Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic film, Karan Arjun, is gearing up for a return to cinemas. This 1995 cult classic is the latest addition to the growing trend of re-releases in Bollywood. Recent months have seen many older films hitting the big screen again & enjoying impressive box office success.
The nostalgia factor plays a big role in this trend. Audiences love to revisit their favourite films, especially during times when new releases are sparse.
Blockbusters like Rockstar, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Tumbbad have all seen successful re-releases, raking in around Rs 60-70 crore collectively. Even Laila Majnu made waves, exceeding its original lifetime collection within just its first weekend back.
The re-release trend is proving beneficial for everyone involved, from filmmakers to cinema owners. It’s a cost-effective way to boost box office earnings while giving fans the chance to relive those classic moments on the big screen.
