Sunny Deol is making a powerful comeback following the success of Gadar 2. His next project, Lahore 1947, sees him reuniting with director Rajkumar Santoshi and producer Aamir Khan. This period drama also marks his first collaboration with Preity Zinta since their 2002 film Hero: A Love Story of a Spy.
Lahore 1947 To Wrap Up With A Crucial Train Sequence Set In Partition Era
ETimes has revealed that the film is approaching the end of its shoot, with a major sequence currently in progress. This pivotal scene depicts a train journey between India and Pakistan, highlighting the massive migration of people during the Partition.
A source close to the project shared, “Lahore 1947 will conclude with the most ambitious train sequence of the Partition era. This extensive scene is designed to be a visual spectacle, capturing the chaotic and emotional essence of the time. Filming will span several weeks with a large cast and crew, aiming to provide audiences with a fresh and impactful experience.”
About The Film
Lahore 1947 is based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni. The film follows the story of a Muslim family migrating from Lucknow to Lahore during the Partition. They receive a haveli previously owned by a Hindu family, only to find an elderly Hindu woman still living there.
The cast includes Sunny Deol’s son, Karan Deol, along with Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. Shabana Azmi plays the role of the elderly Hindu woman left behind in Lahore. The film is targeting a release on January 26, 2025.
As the film nears its completion, anticipation builds for its portrayal of one of the most significant events in modern history.
