Nayanthara Vs Dhanush Not Ending Anytime Soon! Actress Claims ‘No Violation’ In Response To Rs 10 Cr Legal Notice Sent To Her

Nayanthara has denied copyright violation claims in response to Dhanush’s Rs 10 crore legal notice over Naanum Rowdy Dhaan footage.

The conflict between Tamil stars Nayanthara and Dhanush continues to intensify. It began with a Rs 10 crore legal notice sent by Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Movies. The notice accuses Nayanthara of copyright infringement, a claim she has now denied.

The dispute is linked to Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a 2015 blockbuster starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. The film was directed by Vignesh Shivan (now Nayanthara’s husband) and produced by Dhanush under his Wunderbar Films banner.

The controversy arose after a brief clip allegedly from the movie appeared in the trailer of Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. This Netflix documentary sheds light on Nayanthara’s life and career.

Nayanthara Claims ‘No Violation’ After Madras HC Seeks Her Response

The case recently reached the Madras High Court. Justice Abdul Quddhose instructed Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan to respond to the civil suit. The court has adjourned the matter for now.

Nayanthara’s lawyer, Rahul Dhawan, rejected the infringement allegations. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, “Our response is that there is no infringement or violation because what has been utilised by us in the docu-series is not part of behind-the-scenes (from the film). The same is part of personal library. Therefore this is not infringement.”

Dhanush’s Claims Of Copyright Infringement

Wunderbar Movies has claimed that behind-the-scenes footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was used in the Netflix trailer without permission. The production house called it a copyright violation and demanded Rs 10 crore in damages.

The documentary celebrates Nayanthara’s personal and professional journey. It features insights from her friends, family, and industry colleagues, including Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. However, the use of a three-second clip from the 2015 film has triggered a legal conflict.

Nayanthara Recently CRITICISED Dhanush In Her Open Letter

Nayanthara hit back with a bold open letter posted on Instagram, where she accused Dhanush of holding onto resentment for nearly a decade.

She wrote, “It’s almost been 10 years since the release of the film, and it is a long time for someone to continue to be this vile while wearing a mask in front of the world. I have not forgotten all the horrible things that you said about the film that was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is loved by all even today.”
