Shah Rukh Khan has once again showcased his superstar status, not just on-screen but in his tax contributions. The Bollywood actor has become India’s highest celebrity taxpayer for the 2023-24 financial year, paying an impressive Rs 92 crore in taxes.

The Fortune India list of top celebrity taxpayers highlights the massive amounts contributed by India’s entertainment and sports icons. Shah Rukh Khan led the list by a wide margin.
Tamil star Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy, secured the second spot with Rs 80 crore in taxes. Salman Khan followed with Rs 75 crore, Amitabh Bachchan with Rs 71 crore, and cricketer Virat Kohli with Rs 66 crore, completing the top five.
Among female celebrities, Kareena Kapoor ranked highest, just outside the top 10, with Rs 20 crore in taxes.

Shah Rukh Khan’s position reflects his incredible success in 2023. He made a grand Bollywood comeback with Pathaan, which earned over Rs 1000 crore globally. He followed this with Jawan, a blockbuster that grossed Rs 1150 crore worldwide. Although his third release, Dunki, earned less, it still collected an impressive Rs 400 crore globally.
These films, combined with endorsement deals and other ventures, helped Shah Rukh reclaim the title of India’s highest-paid actor after nearly a decade.
Tamil superstar Vijay also enjoyed a spectacular year with his film The Greatest of All Time. The movie grossed over Rs 600 crore worldwide, solidifying his reputation as one of India’s top stars. Reports suggest Vijay was paid a massive Rs 200 crore for the project, significantly boosting his earnings and tax contributions.
