It was earlier reported that Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal would star in the sequel of super hit and acclaimed film, Oh My God and the film would go on floors from summer 2021. The same however didn’t happen due to the second wave lockdown.
But now we hear that, Paresh Rawal would not be a part of OMG 2. The makers have meanwhile, zeroed down on the acclaimed actor, Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role.
This would be the second time that we would see Akshay Kumar sharing the screen with Pankaj Tripathi, they recently worked together on the Sajid Nadiadwala production, Bachchan Pandey.
“Oh My God 2 will feature Pankaj Tripathi as the lead character alongside Akshay Kumar, who gets back to play his role from the first part. The discussions have been going on for quite some time with Pankaj and everything is now locked,” revealed a source to Pinkvilla.
According to the source, the two bonded very well on the sets, and that reflects in their camaraderie in the gangster comic thriller too.
The film goes on floors in the month of September with a two-month schedule. “The pre-production work has begun with a team working in isolation to explore the probable locations of shoot, and also deciding on designing the sets in the city. The film will be wrapped up in one go by the month of October,” the source added.
The sequel of OMG won’t be helmed by Umesh Shukla, but the new director’s name is still unknown. OMG 2 will be produced by Ashwin Varde along with Akshay himself, like the first part.
Before starting Oh My God 2, Akshay will wrap up shooting for the Aanand L Rai directorial, Raksha Bandhan and Abhishek Sharma directorial Ram Setu. He will next be seen in Sooryavanshi and Bellbottom, followed by Bachchan Pandey, Atrangi Re and Prithviraj.
