A Mumbai-based non-governmental organization (NGO) has filed a complaint against Ranveer Singh with the Chembur police in Mumbai. According to a representative from the Chembur police station, the police used this information to register a FIR against the actor under the Indian Penal Code Sections 292 (sale of obscene books, etc.), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and provisions of the Information Technology Act. According to prior reports from the police, an NGO official claimed that the actor’s photos had hurt women’s feelings generally and disrespected their modesty.
