Ranbir Kapoor is known for his performances in films like Rockstar, Sanju, Barfi, and Tamasha. The actor who got immense popularity with his role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, is set to portray Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated Ramayana.
The casting decision has generated significant buzz, and Mukesh Chhabra, the film’s casting director, recently shed light on why Kapoor was the perfect choice for the role.
Mukesh Chhabra Reveals Why Ranbir Kapoor Was Chosen To Play Lord Ram
In a recent episode of The Ranveer Show podcast, Chhabra explained the rationale behind casting Kapoor as Lord Rama. He highlighted Kapoor’s serene and calm demeanour, which he believed was essential for the character.
“Uske chehre pe calmness hai, woh toh chahiye thi na…Nitesh (Tiwari) ne bahot pehle hi soch lia tha unko. Ye bahot sahi decision hai. Wo aapko maloom chalega film aane ke baad. (He has a calmness on his face. It was needed for the film. Nitesh Tiwari thought about casting him quite earlier. It is a great decision and the audience will realise after watching the film),” Chhabra said.
Chhabra, who has previously worked with Kapoor on films such as Tamasha, Rockstar, Bombay Velvet, Sanju, and Brahmastra, praised the actor’s consistent acting skills. He noted that Kapoor’s performance remains impressive regardless of a film’s commercial success or failure, reflecting his dedication to his craft.
Discussing the casting process for Ramayana, Chhabra emphasised that it requires a genuine and honest approach. He mentioned that casting for such significant roles cannot be “calculated or manipulated”. Instead, it involves finding actors whose on-screen presence and vibe align with the film’s needs.
Ramayana Part Two Casting In Progress
Chhabra also revealed that preparations for casting Ramayana: Part Two are underway, though he did not disclose specific details about the project. He hinted that big actors might be cast in character roles, irrespective of their off-screen personas.
In addition to the two parts of Ramayana, there are rumours of a Hanuman spin-off, which could potentially become the third instalment of this epic saga. Alongside Kapoor, the film will feature Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, promising a star-studded ensemble that fans are eagerly anticipating.
