Recently, controversy sparked when a Los Angeles-based choreographer accused singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh of not paying desi dancers during his North America tour, Dil-Luminati.
The claims have stirred discussions online, prompting responses from Dosanjh’s Bhangra team and his manager, Sonali Singh.
Diljit Dosanjh’s Team Denies Claims Of Non-Payment
In a recent Instagram post, Diljit Dosanjh’s Manager Sonali Singh addressed the allegations made by choreographers Rajat Batta and Manpreet Toor.
Singh clarified that neither Batta nor Toor were contacted by the official team for the tour. She emphasized that these individuals were spreading false information and had no involvement with the Dil-Luminati tour.
“Just to clarify, Rajat Batta, Manpreet Toor, and other choreographers making statements about the Dil-Luminati tour were never a part of it,” Singh stated. “Our official team never contacted Rajat Batta or Manpreet Toor, who are presenting a false narrative on social media. Rajat and Manpreet were not involved in the Dil-Luminati tour in any way.”
Singh highlighted that the official choreographers for the tour were Balwinder Singh, Preet Chahal, Divya, and Parth from Vancouver. She urged those not involved to stop spreading misinformation. “Love & regards,” she concluded.
About The Controversy
The controversy began when Rocky, a choreographer based in LA, posted on Instagram accusing Dosanjh of not compensating the dancers on the tour.
While he acknowledged Dosanjh’s success and praised him for breaking barriers and selling out shows across North America, Rocky expressed his frustration over the lack of respect and payment for desi dancers.
Rocky claimed that the dancers were expected to perform for free during the Dil-Luminati tour and were not paid for their work.
In response to the accusations, Dosanjh’s Bhangra team posted a joint message on Instagram expressing their support for the singer. They detailed their positive experience working with him and his team, highlighting the respect and professionalism they received throughout the tour.
The team described their involvement in the tour as a significant celebration of their work and global recognition. They expressed pride in being part of the Dil-Luminati tour and cherished the affection they received from Dosanjh.
