Akshay Kumar starrer Rakshabandhan is set to release on 11th August alongside another biggie Laal Singh Chaddha. This clash is much hyped and both the actors are promoting their films as best as they can.
Codes of success:
Akshay Kumar is coming after the debacles of Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj alongside director Aanand L Rai who had rough times with Zero and not so much appreciated Atrangi Re.
But RakshaBandhan is a sure shot success for a few reasons –
* Hype of clash will ensure initial
* String of holidays in opening week will ensure the respectable number of footfalls
* Family drama genre on the relevant holiday of Rakhi means good opening day
* Rooted massy films have been doing well lately in post-pandemic times and that’s what is the biggest tick for the film
The film started well in booking numbers and though it’s not huge but better than most recent Akshay Kumar releases.
Number game:
Rakshabandhan will open close to double-digit numbers if advances are the right indicator. It might just fall short of 13 cr nett plus of Bachchhan Paandey due to clash but even 10 cr nett is a good result for the film. Following are the key numbers for the film :
Release size :
2400-2600 screens
No. of shows :
8500-9500 plus shows all of India
Opening day :
9.5-11 cr nett
Opening weekend : (*4 days)
69-75 cr nett
Opening week : (*8 days)
98-105 cr nett
Lifetime
120-140 cr nett
Verdict :
Above Average to Super Hit
Obviously, after opening day this all depends on word of mouth and going by early reports, it’s not a film that will crash or drop big. Ideally, anything above will be a very good result for the film in the clash and that seems quite possible.
