Kriti Sanon & Kajol’s Do Patti Song ‘Maiyya’ Accused Of Plagiarism, Musician Says ‘If You Can’t Make Music, Don’t Steal It’

Kriti Sanon & Kajol's Do Patti song 'Maiyya' faces plagiarism accusations from musician who claims T-Series copied her husband's track.

T-Series is once again under fire after musician Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar accused the music label and music director duo Sachet-Parampara of plagiarising her husband’s track. According to her, It has been used in the song “Maiyya” from Do Patti, the Netflix film starring Kriti Sanon and Kajol.

Dastidar took to social media to voice her anger, demanding action against the duo and T-Series for using Rajarshi Mitter’s music without permission.

In an Instagram post, Dastidar called out T-Series, Sachet Tandon, and Parampara Thakur. She wrote, “Kindly report @tseriesfilms, @sachettandonofficial, and @sachetparamparaofficial. They have blatantly used my husband Rajarshi Mitter’s track without permission or legal action in their Bollywood movie song ‘Maiyya’ from Do Patti.” 

Dastidar didn’t hold back & accused Tandon of stealing the music and urging fellow artists to speak out. “If you can’t make music, then don’t steal it! Sachet Tandon, I’m speaking directly to you – you’re a shameless, filthy thief. How dare you not even ask for the rights from my husband? You’re a thief! Go to hell!” she posted.

Netizens spoke in support of Dastidar, with many pointing out the striking similarities between the two tracks. One user commented, “How shameful man.” Another said, “Just heard the two songs and yes they do sound exactly the same. Like exactly same, note by note!!!”

Another Track ‘Akhiyaan De Khol’ Has Also Been Accused

This is not the first time T-Series has faced accusations of plagiarism. The company has been involved in multiple copyright disputes over the years. Most recently, Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui accused T-Series of copying the song “Akhiyaan De Khol” for Do Patti. He claimed the song resembled a Pakistani folk tune.

T-Series has been the target of similar allegations before. Their track Genda Phool was accused of copying the Bengali folk song “Boroloker Bitilo,” and the song “O Saathi” was said to bear similarities to a Pakistani song by Atif Aslam. 

In 2017, composer Akarsh Sharma accused T-Series of plagiarising his song Humsafar, and in 2013, Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid claimed T-Series’ song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 was lifted from his own work.
